Shanjhey Kumar Perumal hails from Parit Buntar, a small town in Perak, Malaysia.
A graduate of University Science Malaysia in 2003 and with 10 years experience in the Broadcast Industry, Shanjhey has directed over 200 episodes of Television shows and is actively involved in the independent film scene.
His short documentary ‘Thaipoosam” was screened at the 36th International Film Festival Rotterdam 2006 and he is a former winner of BMW Shorties Film Festival in 2009 for his ‘Machai' shortfilm entry.
His ‘Jagat' shortfilm won Best Cinematography at the International Toronto Tamil Film Festival in 2012 while his ‘The Day River Ran Red' documentary (filmed for My Hometown Channel, ASTRO) won the Jury Award at the Freedom Film Festival, Kuala Lumpur in 2013. Shanjey also has had the honour of being a Jury Member for the BMW Shorties 2012.
In 2011, Shanjhey founded Skyzen (M) Sdn. Bhd, in the aim of producing high quality Films (Fictional, Documentary and Experimental) for Television and the Silver Screen.
